In this article we want to talk about a particular case study that we have had the opportunity to face from the birth of a specific need, looking for a solution, up to the production of plastic parts made of Corian: the solution of our customer's problem!
The advantages of using solid surface in a specific lighting application!
Corian® is a brand of solid surface material created by DuPont. It is composed of acrylic polymer and alumina trihydrate (ATH), a material derived from bauxite ore.
Its characteristics includes:
Repairability: Scratches, chips and more serious damage can be easily mended on the spot, always without a trace.
Freedom in Design: It can be molded into 2D and 3D shapes meeting all design goals.
Softness & Warmness: Pleasant and smooth to the touch with its silk-like surface.
Sustainability: As a low-VOC material, it is free from dangerous chemicals, hence supports better indoor air quality. A selection of colors contain between 6% and 20% recycled material and our manufacturing facilities are zero waste to landfill.
but the most interessant feature of Corian, for the the specific lighting application we want to talk about is Hygienic: no place for bacteria and mold to take root, thanks to the nonporous surface and the inconspicuous seams.

Ceiling lights for swimming pools: FIRMA case study through the experience of its customer
Pool lights needs a strong resistance to the corrosive action of saline agents in outdoor spaces and to corrosive environmental agents.
Thanks to the use of solid surface materials like Corian, exposure to water, even salt and chlorinated, does not cause alterations over time, completely maintaining the functionality of the LED pool light.
